Ethical issues

Warlick (2009) queries how to ‘address ethics, when we are empowering our students with such prevailing (ICT) skills’. If policies are provided (ACMA, 2009), ensuring proper tool usage…if teachers direct, model and prompt ‘responsible use of information/tools’, then site-blocking/banning should be non-existent.  It is the responsibility of the teachers to guide the learners to becoming responsible digital citizens. Modelling originality is often attained using original images and information. Kennedy’s synopsis (2001), concerning copyright laws suggest to tread carefully when linking or viewing copyrighted work. Students should select images using shared sites, such  as Creative Commons (2009b) and  Flicker.

It is imperative copyright laws are complied with.
