Introduction
Influx of information overload in today’s world requires teacher librarians to sieve through coypus amounts of online data to evaluate (educational worth), extrapolate, ‘manipulate’ and ‘express …findings in compelling ways using appropriate modes of communication’ (Warlick, 2007, p. 21). Development of user-friendly tools have enhanced communication and creativity on the web and given rise to many questions about authentic use in school libraries. Only now, contemplations about the freedom and accessibility of the 2.0 tools and 3.0 interactive shared information pathways is regarded with much caution. Libraries should promote the use of 2.0 tools and 3.0 environments to address inquiry questions that arise in society today. The urgency and importance of professional development for librarians to maintain momentum in a fast moving virtual world , will be addressed along with important issues and considerations arising from implementing a plethora of tools and interactive sites. The question of building relationships with the schools ICT department and key figures who promote the same ideal shall be emphasised.
